Every entrepreneurial support organisation can adopt a variety of approaches to design and deliver entrepreneurship programmes to immigrant entrepreneurs, depending on the organisations’ mission and values, the programme’s objectives, and the profile of served immigrants and their businesses.
The following paragraphs first highlight some methodological principles for guiding the development of approaches and programmes targeting immigrant entrepreneurs, based on available literature and the MIG.EN.CUBE project’s findings. Second, some tools for designing effective and appropriate programmes are offered, together with examples of good practices derived from MIG.EN.CUBE experience and other available toolkits.
Defining the programme’s learning and support objectives
Being clear about the learning and support objectives of entrepreneurial support programmes is key in ‘keeping the promise’ made to both entrepreneurs and other stakeholders (e.g., funders of the programme, trainers and mentors). From our own MIG.EN.CUBE research, we have identified the following possible goals of entrepreneurial support measures:
